Team Fortress 2 is Valve's colourful class-based team shooter, released in 2007 and free to play today. You pick one of nine classes, each with its own weapons and role, and work with your team to capture points, push the payload or take the intelligence.
The art style is cartoon like and the humour is strong. Each class plays differently, from the fast Scout to the heavy Heavy, so there is room for many styles. Servers run community modes, and items and hats can be found, traded or bought without changing the core balance in a major way.
The download is the official one from Steam. You need a free Steam account, and the game installs and updates through the Steam app. It runs on Windows and Linux.
