Path of Exile is a free online action RPG from Grinding Gear Games, set on the dark continent of Wraeclast. You play an exile and fight through monsters in a loot-driven world, shaping your character with a huge passive skill tree and a flexible system of skill gems.
The game is known for its depth: you can build very different characters, trade with other players, and take part in seasonal leagues that start fresh economies every few months. Solo play and group play are both supported. The developers state that the game is free and not pay-to-win, and optional purchases are mostly cosmetic or convenience.
The download is the official one from Steam. You need a free Steam account, and the game installs and updates through the Steam app.
